ABOUT

Originally from Germany, Frank resides in the Marlborough Sounds with his wife and three children.

Born in 1966, Frank started photography with the age of 16 as an apprentice in a commercial photo-studio and passed the exam with distinction. He remained in the field of advertising photography and after his compulsory military service he worked and managed the digital compartment in one of Europe's biggest studios for furniture-photography. In 2000, he and his family felt it was time for a change. They immigrated to New Zealand and settled in the Sounds.

The anticipated relaxed lifestyle didn't last long. His background of interior photography and computer skills took him back to Europe. For several years, Frank travelled on assignments from Greece to Finland, taking photos and virtual tours for hotels.

His commitment to his clients never gave him time to strive for awards. But in 2005, when he received an invitation to compete with 700 photographer in an international panorama photography competition he entered and won. In all his modesty, Frank would probably say that he just happened to take an award-winning photograph.

In 2007, as the only New Zealand photographer, Frank is able to provide panoramic images of Aotearoa, befitting special requirement and the technique used for a unique project that has never happened before in the Central European region in the field of panoramic imaging and projection. His panorama photographs were projected on a 55 meters long and 4 meters wide screen during Europe's largest open air musical and cultural festival in Hungary.

To describe Frank as simply a commercial photographer would not give full credit to his creative prowess. He has pursued excellence in commercial and illustrative photography striving for both perfection and artistic expression across a broad spectrum of photographic fields. Frank is a member of the AIPA and his work is represented by Getty Images and World Panorama Stock.
